Susan MyersAssistant State Archaeologist and Site Registrar
A native of Raleigh, Susan has been involved with the OSA for nearly 40 years, beginning as a high school volunteer and most recently as Assistant State Archaeologist and Site Registrar. She provides project review and technical assistance for a 15-county area of the Piedmont and helps oversee the office’s site and report records. As registrar she assigns site and accession numbers for discoveries generated by compliance projects or citizen reporting, managing a data base approaching 50,000 sites.
Susan holds a BA in anthropology from Wake Forest University and a Certificate in Professional Writing from NC State University. She completed her field school at UNC-Chapel Hill. Professional and avocational interests include beads and North Carolina pottery. In a former life she co-edited and provided photographs for an indie magazine focusing on NC music.
