Sarah Watkins-KenneyQAR Project Conservator
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Sarah joined the QAR team in 2003, and her first task was to set up the QAR Conservation Lab at East Carolina University. She has worked as an archaeological conservator for museums, universities, regional conservation services and archaeology projects around the world, before joining the QAR team,
Sarah was Head of the Metals, Ceramics and Glass Conservation Section at the British Museum from 1994 to 2003. She holds a bachelor's degree in archaeological conservation from Cardiff University and a master's degree in Museum and Gallery Management from City University, London, and she is currently a Ph.D. candidate in East Carolina University's Coastal Resources Management (CRM) program.
She is also a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation (FIIC), an Accredited Conservator-Restorer (ACR) and Member of the Institute of Field Archaeologists (MIfA).
Sarah Watkins-Kenney is QAR Lab Director and Chief Conservator. She oversees conservation of artifacts prior to their display in museums across the state of North Carolina and the United States.
