Three new exhibits are on display at the OSA offices in Raleigh.
“A Day of the Life in the Young Family” highlights the diverse array of objects collected from the yard of the Ailey Young House in Wake Forest, former home of noted African-American educator Allen Young. “American Indian Foodways” provides examples of how archaeologists integrate clues from pottery, plant materials, animal bone, and stone tools to learn about prehistoric cuisine in the Carolinas. “Colonial Period Ceramics from Brunswick Town State Historic Site” showcases the utilitarian and ornate ceramics excavated from the remains of this eighteenth-century port on the Cape Fear River. The objects in these exhibits come from the OSA Research Center and the North Carolina Archaeological Collection at UNC-CHapel Hill.
