Originally from northwest Florida, Casey earned her BA in anthropology and classics at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She completed her first field school during the summer of 2009 at the University of Florida’s historical archaeology field school at Kingsley Plantation in Jacksonville, FL. Following her passion, Casey pursued volunteering opportunities at various archaeology labs including the Laboratory of Southeastern Archaeology in Gainesville, FL, the University of Florida’s Historical Archaeology Lab in Gainesville, FL, the Paleoecology Laboratory at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and finally at the OSA laboratory located at the Western Regional Archives in Asheville, NC.
Casey serves in the NCDOT-funded Staff Archaeologist position at the OSA Western Branch located in Asheville, NC. Casey joined the OSA staff in November 2017 as an Archaeological Technician. Her responsibilities include assisting NCDOT with their compliance review projects and digitizing and auditing OSA documentation.
