Casey KirbyArchaeology Technician - NCDOT

Originally from northwest Florida, Casey earned her bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Classics at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She completed her first field school during the summer of 2009 at the University of Florida’s historical archaeology field school at Kingsley Plantation in Jacksonville, FL. Following her passion, Casey pursued volunteering opportunities at various archaeology labs including the Laboratory of Southeastern Archaeology in Gainesville, FL, the University of Florida’s Historical Archaeology Lab in Gainesville, FL, the Paleoecology Laboratory at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and finally at the OSA laboratory located at the Western Regional Archives in Asheville, NC.

Casey Kirby is the Archaeological Technician at the Office of State Archaeology’s Western Branch located in Asheville, NC. Casey joined the Office of State Archaeology staff in November 2017. Her responsibilities include assisting NCDOT with their compliance review projects and digitizing and auditing OSA documentation.
