The Office of State Archaeology Research Center (OSARC) volunteer program is a competitive opportunity for students and those interested in furthering their career in the field of archaeology. The program allows volunteers to experience the methodologies of an archaeological laboratory, and often involves (but does not always include) cleaning and analysis of artifacts, lifting boxes (approximately 20 lbs), minimal fieldwork, data entry, scanning, and digital and paper file organization. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come-first-serve basis throughout the year. Currently, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and an up-to-date tetanus booster is recommended. Volunteer terms last six months and no prior archaeological experience is necessary. We encourage volunteers to dedicate a minimum of four hours a week.
