A wide range of activities come under Public Education including: lectures, demonstrations, and facility tours to school and civic groups; the preparation of materials and lessons for teachers to use in the classroom; the maintenance of an Underwater Archaeology Exhibit Building (annual visitation approximately 60,000).

Other activities include the development of temporary exhibits; publication of reports, and articles in various journals, magazines and newsletters; the presentation of papers at professional meetings; designating and interpreting Historic Shipwreck Preserves; and the use of volunteers in laboratory, fieldwork, and historical research activities.
